I am the Principal of Product Research at Reddit.
I have mentored start-up CEOs on scaling their organizations and have researched management strategy at two start-ups -- one in stealth mode and the other seeking to be acquired. I have also advised a major metropolitan news organization on social media policy strategy.
My industry experience comes from working in a range of organizational types -- corporations, news media, marketing agencies, non-profit humanitarian aid, arts administration -- that have been formative to my experience in organizational change, strategy, corporate social responsibility, social media, and technology.
I was on faculty as a one-year Postdoctoral Scholar in Organizational and Risk Communication with the University of Kentucky Department of Communication during the 2017-2018 academic year. I graduated from my doctoral fellowship at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at University of Southern California on May 12, 2017. My dissertation committee members included Patricia Riley (chair), Andrea B. Hollingshead, and Daren C. Brabham. I earned my second master's degree in Communication at USC and had previously earned my first master's degree in Communication at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My adviser at UIUC was M. Scott Poole and my committee members were John Lammers and Christian Sandvig. I attended Wake Forest University for my undergraduate B.A. degree in Communication with a minor in International Studies. In 2015, I attended at the Oxford Internet Institute Summer Doctoral Programme to discuss Internet research with faculty and peers. I was also a 2012 Berktern at the Youth & Media Lab of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.
I was the recipient of an IRTS fellowship to work as an online journalist for W-NBC 4 in New York City. Previous employers include PayPal in San Jose, UPS Corporate Public Affairs on Capitol Hill, Edelman (public relations agency) on K Street, the National Geographic Society, WTTG Fox 5 DC, and the American Red Cross (headquarters).
I have skills in research, legislative/public affairs, policy analysis, digital public relations, media production, investigative journalism, photography, digital asset management, and rights licensing.
